Dog Fatally Shot By NYPD Officer At Bronx Apartment Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An NYPD officer shot and killed a dog after it charged at the officer inside a Bronx apartment building, authorities said.

Police told 1010 WINS officers were responding to a domestic incident at a building on E. 184th St. in Fordham Heights when the shooting occurred.

A woman had called police and reported that her husband was on the roof of the building, violating an order of protection she has against him, according to the New York Daily News.

Authorities said as police were on their way to investigate, a pit bull came out of a neighbor's apartment and charged at the officers.

One of the cops then drew his weapon and fatally shot the dog.

The dog did not belong to the couple in the domestic dispute, police told 1010 WINS.
