4 Families Displaced In Jersey City Fire

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Four families were displaced following a fire in Jersey City Sunday morning.

The fire occurred at 28 Marion Place and quickly spread next door.

"Upon arrival there was heavy fire in the rear. I believe it started in the rear bathroom and got into the walls and the ceiling and extended to the second floor and extended to 30 Marion Place as well," Jersey City Fire Chief Darren Rivers told CBS2.

The American Red Cross said in a statement that 12 people in four families are receiving emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food and clothing.

The fire is under investigation.

No one was injured in the blaze.
