Tom Coughlin Working Scouting Combine For NFL, Still Reportedly Considering Offer From Giants
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Tom Coughlin is keeping busy while still mulling over a job offer from the New York Giants.
The former coach is attending this week's NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis as a member of the Madden Committee, a coaches subcommittee that reports to the NFL's Competition Committee and is chaired by former Raiders coach and broadcasting icon John Madden.
Coughlin was reportedly on the same Indiana-bound flight Tuesday as his protégé and successor, Ben McAdoo, and Jets coach Todd Bowles.
Coughlin resigned Jan. 4 as Giants coach after 12 seasons, the last four ending without a trip to the playoffs. He won two Super Bowls as Big Blue's head coach.
The Giants have reportedly offered Coughlin a consultant job, but he has yet to accept it.
Coughlin, 69, made it clear at his farewell news conference that he hoped to continue working in football, preferably as a coach. The Philadelphia Eagles interviewed him, but he later removed himself from consideration. The San Francisco 49ers also interviewed Coughlin, but hired Chip Kelly instead.
