WATCH: Hockey Player Arrested On Ice After Fight With Referee

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Canadian junior hockey player was arrested on the ice after allegedly spitting into a referee's face and then fighting him.

Olivier Marcotte, 21, of the Junior AA Sherbrooke Hockey-Experts in Quebec got into an altercation with one of the linesman after allegedly spitting in his face, CBC News reports.

Video posted by Hockey Web Cast shows the two wrestling to the ice, with Marcotte getting pinned down by the linesman and another referee.

Two Quebec police officers then came onto the ice and placed Marcotte in handcuffs.

Quebec police told CBC News no complaint was filed against Marcotte and that there will be no further action against him. He was released from custody the same night.

Serge Campeau, president of the Junior AA league, said the league doesn't condone players spitting at referees.

Sherbrooke ended up losing the game 9-3 and were eliminated from the league playoffs.
