Prosecutors: Pregnant Woman Suffers Miscarriage During Purse Snatching In Asbury Park

ASBURY PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Charges have been filed against a central New Jersey woman accused of causing a pregnant woman to suffer a miscarriage during a robbery, prosecutors said.

Margaret Vannell, 35, of Jackson Township, pulled the victim to the ground after trying to steal her purse in Asbury Park last month.

The women struggled on the ground over the victim's purse, and the fight caused the pregnant woman to miscarry, according to a criminal complaint.

Vannell was charged with aggravated assault last week and is being held on bail.

Vannell is expected in court next month.
