2/28 CBS2 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good afternoon, folks! What a beauty we have in store today. Definitely a spring preview as we tap into a mild flow from the southwest, bringing temps in the upper 50s to 60 degrees! The exception is along the south shore of Long Island as those winds come off of the cold water, keeping temps closer to 50. But plenty of sunshine all around!

Mostly clear skies tonight and mild, as lows bottom out in the upper 30s in the suburbs and 40s for NYC metro. Tomorrow a weak cold front moves through and will bring clouds and scattered showers for the first part of the day. It clears out though for the afternoon and temps once again jump into the upper 50s and low 60s for most.

March arrives more like a lamb on Tuesday under partly cloudy skies and temps in the low to mid 50s, still above normal for this time of year. Late Tuesday into Wednesday looks like our next chance of some decent rain along with some gusty winds.

Temps cool off after that with highs back into the upper 30s by Friday. We could even be talking a little snow by then, but a it's still a ways out. Be sure to stay tuned!

Enjoy the warmth, spring is getting closer!
