Apps Bring Beauty, Spa Treatments To Your Home
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Are you ever too busy or tired to make it to the nail or hair salon?
As CBS2's Magdalena Doris reported, local businesses can deliver beauty to your doorstep – through the click of an app.
Within 90 minutes of clicking the GLAMSQUAD app, you are ready to prim and primp and prep from lashes to lacquer. Indeed, Doris reported, GLAMSQUAD can turn a living room into a full-fledged salon.
"Some women just might want that last-minute manicure, and within an hour, you can book a glam squad manicure at the touch of a button," said GLAMSQUAD co-founder and chief executive officer Alexandra Wilkis.
Once you book on the app, metamorphosis begins. CBS2 joined GLAMSQUAD customer Barbara Frischling as she was prepping for her husband's leap year birthday party.
That usually means running around, but not anymore.
"This was just easiest for me rather than going to three separate locations, spending an hour at a nail salon, and then going to make up counter, and then then having my hair blown dry," she said.
And of course, it is not just for celebrities.
"Truly an affordable luxury, and that's what so great about our service is it's actually attainable," said GLAMSQUAD creative director Giovanni Vaccaro. "You're talking about $50 for a blowout."
Meanwhile, if you need a few moments of relaxation, it may pay to Zeel. In an hour, one of their ZMT's – or Zeel massage therapists – can rescue from a rough day all the way up until 10:30 p.m.
"You can book on the weekend when the spas are closed, (or) at nighttime," said Zeel client Monica Hu.
For massage therapists, Zeel also works out well.
"It's the freedom," said Zeel massage therapist Beth Sambur. "I can work whenever I want. It's a great way to supplement your income."
