Coleman: Piazza Visits Mets Camp, Talks Cespedes And Expectations

Even though Mike Piazza arrived at Mets camp on Sunday, it was obvious that he had been paying attention to Yoenis Cespedes and the goings on of Exotic (Expensive) Car Week in Port St. Lucie.

All kidding aside, the Hall of Fame-bound Piazza had a special knack for seizing the moment and making it his. It is not easy to do, but it was expected of Piazza. And it will be expected of Cespedes this upcoming season.

Ahh, patience in New York. Good luck with that! Piazza will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 24, and he's quite proud and happy to be going in as a Met.

And adding to that pleasure will be joining Tom Seaver and the late Gary Carter already enshrined at Cooperstown.

But let's get back to the cars, shall we? Piazza sounded just a little bit envious when asked his thoughts on the Mets current crop of young pitching studs.

But one thing he does love about and which bodes well for this super staff is this -- they get it.

Piazza was also a member of a Mets World Series team that fell in five games to their opponent (Yankees in 2000). But he does know a thing or two about not just surviving but excelling under pressure in New York. So what advice does he have for this bunch in order to persevere in the coming years? Have a listen:
