NYPD: Bouncer Dead In Assault At Johnny's Restaurant And Bar In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A bouncer at a restaurant and bar in Queens was killed in an assault early Saturday morning, according to police.

Police say they found 43-year-old Elsworth Reid unconscious and unresponsive after being badly beaten at Johnny's Restaurant and Bar on Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park just after 1 a.m.

Police say the bouncer was beaten by at least 10 patrons at the establishment, 1010 WINS Samantha Liebman reported.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Police made two arrests Saturday in connection to the beating. Deonarine Deoraj, 31, and Harrydatt Nandalall, 48, have been charged with manslaughter and gang assault.

According to area residents, police presence is common at the locale.

"Every Friday and Saturday nights, nothing but drunks coming out of there and urinating in the street -- doing whatever, breaking into cars -- and you know, it's just bound to happen," one resident told Liebman.
