Donald Trump Says His Primary Foreign Policy Consultant Is Donald Trump

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Presidential candidate Donald Trump is opening up about who he goes to for the nation's most pressing foreign policy questions.

"I'm speaking with myself, number one, because I have a very good brain and I've said a lot of things," Trump said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" when asked about his consistent foreign policy advisers.

"I know what I'm doing and I listen to a lot of people, I talk to a lot of people and at the appropriate time I'll tell you who the people are," Trump he went on to say. "But my primary consultant is myself and I have a good instinct for this stuff."

Earlier this month, dozens of conservative national security experts warned that Trump is unfit to be commander in chief.

Former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and more than 70 others say they're united in their opposition to a Trump presidency.

Among the experts who signed on was Frances Townsend, homeland security and counterterrorism adviser to President George W. Bush.

"Donald Trump hasn't ever had the experience in terms of having to get something done in terms of foreign policy," Townsend told "CBS This Morning" in early March.  "The people who signed this letter have and do understand what it takes. This is not a real estate deal."
