The Best In Luxury On Display At The 15th Annual Architectural Digest Design Show

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The best in luxury design, from the latest stoves to home entertainment were on display at the 15th Annual Architectural Digest Design Show.

As CBS2’s Emily Smith reported, you can touch everything from handmade stoves to tile made of precious jewels at the annual show.

The magazine’s editor-in-chief Margaret Russel said it’s the best of the best if you are into design. Some 40,000 people are expected to attend.

“There’s something for everyone here, from starter apartment prices to the most luxurious, most beautiful things you can have in your home,” Russell said.

It’s all happening at Pier 94 on West 55th Street. The showroom is filled with limited edition items such as a La Corneau, signature pink stove, which made its debut along with a soft blue model.

“Usually it’s designed by the future owner, the configuration, then we send the order to Paris and they fabricate it and fourteen weeks later it is delivered to their home,” Anne Puriculli said.

A single stove can go up to $80,000.

Another popular luxury brand is Jenn Air.

The appliance seems to allow you to do everything but watch TV for $5,200. If you’re at the farmer’s market and you become inspired by eggplant you can pull out your device and pre-heat your oven, and when you get home you are ready to go.

A built-in refrigerator isn’t a new concept, but the color inside is.

“We were inspired by high-end grocery stores displaying produce against a black backdrop. We took it to a new level. We put in theater LED lighting,” Brian Maynard explained.

A $25,000 sofa is made of silk velvet. It’s sold by KGBL in Brooklyn. They said green is the new red in sofa trends.

A 7,000-lbs, $20,000 coffee table seems to be indestructible. It’s a single piece of marble with bronze legs.

Some of the latest technology in TVs was also on display. One Sony projector screen costs about $1,000 and all you need is a wall, or you can opt for the $50,000 model that comes in at 100 inches.

The finest in brands, designs, and ideas including the most luxe products you can imagine for walls, backsplashes, and floors were also on display.

“It is the most luxe product we have ever created. It’s Calcutta gold,” Lauren Cherkas said.

Faucets made of 24 karat gold go for about $25,000.

Even Swarovski crystal can be bathroom decor, it’s manufactured in Monaco.

The show features everything from affordable luxury to astronomical, making it the ultimate resource for those in the market to spruce up their home this spring.

Tickets to the show are $30 a person online or $40 for general admission.

The show runs through Sunday.
