Recipes For Fun, Colorful Easter Treats

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Easter is next Sunday, and if you're looking for some cute treats to make for kids of all ages, CBS2 brought in lifestyle expert Limor Suss from TrendsGirl.com to show you how.

Here are Suss' recipes:

Chocolate Nests


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Honey Bunches of Oats

Chocolate melts

Chocolate eggs in multiple color wrapping (or jelly beans)

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Crush up Honey Bunches of Oats.
  2. Melt chocolate in a mini Crockpot or double broiler until completely smooth.
  3. Stir in Honey Bunches of Oats.
  4. Spray non-stick spray inside a muffin pan.
  5. Place 2 tbsp mixture in each slot and indent to look like a nest.
  6. Place in fridge for 1-2 hours until chocolate hardens.
  7. Remove from muffin pan and add chocolate eggs into each nest.

'Carrots' in Dirt


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Chocolate pudding

Crushed Oreo cookies

Strawberries

Orange chocolate melts

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Melt orange chocolate melts until completely smooth.
  2. Pat dry strawberries so they are completely dry.
  3. Dip strawberry in orange chocolate, covering the strawberry completely up to the the tip.
  4. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and put in the fridge to harden (about 10 minutes)
  5. Crush Oreos
  6. Fill plastic cup with chocolate pudding 1/2 full, top with crushed Oreos to make "dirt."
  7. Place "carrot" into "dirt."

Chicks


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Oreos (preferably with yellow filling)

Yellow chocolate melts

Black icing

Orange icing

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Melt yellow chocolate melts until completely smooth.
  2. Dip Oreos into melted chocolate and place on parchment paper.
  3. Place in fridge to harden (about 10 min.)
  4. Once hardened, dip into melted yellow chocolates a second time.
  5. Place in the fridge to harden (about 15 min.)
  6. Decorate Oreos with black icing for eyes and orange icing for nose and feet
  7.  Let harden and enjoy!

Peep Kebabs


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Peeps in a variety of colors

Easter sprinkles

Milk chocolate melts

Dark chocolate melts

Variety of fruit cut up into cubes

Bamboo skewers

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Dip peeps into melted chocolate, garnish with sprinkles and place on parchment paper and into the fridge to harden.
  2. Using the same sequence for each skewer, poke peeps and fruit onto the bamboo skewer.

Bunny Cupcakes


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Marshmallows

Mini chocolate chips

Pink sprinkles

White frosting

Pink frosting (mix a few drops of red food coloring & white frosting)

White cupcake mix

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Prepare your favorite white cupcake recipe.
  2. Once cooled, ice with white icing.
  3. Cut a marshmallow in half, diagonally, to make "ears."
  4. Spread pink icing onto each "ear," place on cupcake.
  5. Decorate your cupcake, using two mini chocolate chips for eyes, a pink sprinkle for the nose and marshmallow ears.
