The Fashion Must-Haves Everyone Will Be Sporting This Spring

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Spring is here, so put away those winter boots and say hello to fashion must-haves for the warmer months ahead.

"We have to start with blush tones, and nude colors. This is everywhere I've seen it from New York to L.A.," fashion expert Dawn Del Russo told CBS2's Cindy Hsu.

She said it's also time to break out the denim and that the wide leg cut is back.

"If there's any top you're going to buy this spring, it's the cold shoulder, you can find it in dresses and top," she said.

The top accessory this season? The choker.

"This is everywhere!" Russo said. "You just swing it around and you have this little chain choker look, updates your outfit really easily."

You'll see yellow shoes stepping out this spring, along with comfy slides. The bucket-style bag is back, along with smaller bags with chain embellishments.

For sunglasses, fashionistas say to look for round lenses.

And let's not forget the hair! Braids are in, along with subtle pastel highlights.

"Peek-a-boo highlights where you actually highlight just a peek a boo of hair," beauty expert Jeanette Zinno said.

Zinno said you'll see lots of flower hair accessories, from headbands to barrettes.

For nails, pastel colors are blooming and you can try negative space nails, where you put geometric shapes or stripes on bare nails. There's also a twist on the classic french manicure, instead of a white tip go with color.

Zinno also recommends highlighter eyes, where you use different colors to highlight the eyes. For lips, nude colors with matte finish are in, that means no shiny glosses.

Then there's the layered lip, using two complimentary colors. Professionals say color schemes like purple on the bottom and red on the top can work well.

A few things to avoid this spring: over-sized bags, low-waisted skinny jeans, chunky necklaces and when it comes to prints... don't mix them.
