2 NYPD Officers Buy $40 Worth Of Groceries For Elderly Woman

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two NYPD officers went above and beyond to help an elderly woman on Staten Island.

Officers DeMarco and Gormely of the 122nd Precinct spent their own money on groceries for a woman they were conducting a wellness check on.

"Demarco & [Gormely] take elderly women shopping with their own funds after home visit #ItsWhatWeDo," the precinct tweeted.

The two officers realized the woman did not have adequate food in her home, so they took her to a nearby ShopRite.

The officers shelled out nearly $40 in groceries for the woman.

DeMarco and Gormely are assigned to a domestic violence unit.
