Parents Steal Eggs Out Of Children's Baskets, Knock Them Over During Easter Egg Hunt

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- An Easter egg hunt in Connecticut ended with parents scrambling to save their kids.

WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron reports parents ignored the staggered start times at the PEZ Visitor Center for different age groups and rushed the three fields, snatching eggs right out of children's baskets and even knocking them over.

"The parents did bum rush that area," one mom told WCBS 880.

Another mom said her son was left "hysterically crying."

"When my son left, he had a broken basket and he was hysterically crying," she said.

One PEZ worker said they were only trying to create a fun activity for everyone to enjoy.

"It was like locusts. Everybody just descended and they're like locusts. Everybody just descended and left," the worker said.

Organizers said they tried to inform parents there was extra candy on hand for kids who didn't get any.

No one was hurt.
