Police: Man Tries To Lure Two 10-Year-Old Girls In Wantagh

WANTAGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities on Long Island are looking for a man they said tried to lure two 10-year-old girls into his car.

The girls told police they were walking on Briard Street in Wantagh around 5:40 p.m. Monday when a car pulled up beside them.

The driver said "C'mon girls, follow me," and drove to the next intersection, where he made a U-turn and came back toward them, police said.

The man then got out of the car, asked the girls why they were running from him and told them to "come with me now," police said.

The girls ran until they reached one of their homes and told a parent what happened.

The girls weren't hurt.

Investigators said the man is in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5'8" tall, and was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers. A further description of the suspect was not available.

Police said he was driving a black four-door sedan with black rims and tinted windows.

Detectives request anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
