Whoopi Goldberg Launches Marijuana Product Line For Women

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Whoopi Goldberg is looking to make some green by getting into the pot business.

The comedian and talk show host is teaming up with marijuana entrepreneur and Om Edibles founder Maya Elisabeth with a California-based medical marijuana company aimed at providing pot-based products for women.

'Whoopi and Maya' will begin selling four marijuana-based items: scented or unscented bath soaks, tincture, cream and marijuana-infused chocolate.

The products are geared towards women looking to alleviate menstrual pain.

Goldberg said she found inspiration for the line from her own experiences, the New York Times reported.

"This was all inspired by my own experience from a lifetime of difficult periods and the fact that cannabis was literally the only thing that gave me relief," Ms. Goldberg, a longtime proponent of marijuana legalization, said in a statement.

The team also incorporates herbalist Alexis Gandara.

New York State began rolling out its medical marijuana program earlier this year.
