NJ Woman Says She Sold Tickets To Fake Sheryl Crow Show

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A southern New Jersey woman has admitted to selling tickets to a purported Sheryl Crow concert, even though she knew the artist wouldn't be performing there.

Kelly Bryan, 42, pleaded guilty to theft by deception on Tuesday, according to the Burlington County Times.

The Burlington Township woman admitted that she advertised the fake concert on Facebook, sold the tickets and booked vendors while operating as KBR Promotions.

Bryan says she was working with a booking company to get Crow to headline the show but acknowledged there was never a contract in place and she falsely promoted that Crow would perform.

After the incident, Crow posted a message on her verified Facebook account, announcing to fans that she would not be performing at the Flying W in Medford, the Times reported.

According to Crow's Facebook page, the singer/songwriter has been targeted by other scam schemes. On March 15, Crow's team posted on her official Facebook page warning about another instance of scammers:

"If you receive a Facebook friend request or private message from someone claiming to be Sheryl, IT'S A SCAM. Sheryl does not send her personal number to folks on Facebook, nor does she need help retrieving a lost briefcase with a million dollars in it," the statement read.

Bryan faces up to five years of probation when she's sentenced on June 14. Prosecutors say she's also expected to be ordered to pay between $20,000 and $30,000 in restitution.
