Report: Trump Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski Won't Be Prosecuted

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Donald Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski will reportedly not be prosecuted after he was charged in March with simple battery in connection with an incident with a female reporter.

CNN reported Wednesday evening that the Florida officials won't prosecute Lewandowski after being accused of assaulting Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields following a campaign event in Jupiter.

The state's attorney's office is expected to make an announcement Thursday.

A surveillance video released by police appears to show Lewandowski grabbing Fields as she tried to ask Trump a question during a March 8 campaign event.

The police report stated: "Lewandowski grabbed (Michelle) Fields' left arm with his right hand causing her to turn and step back." Fields showed police her left forearm which "appeared to show a grabbing-type injury," according to the investigating officer.

The officer said Fields' forearm revealed "bruising from what appeared to be several finger marks, indicating a grabbing-type injury."

"Obviously nobody wants to be touched and violated like that. I ask that he put him in my shoes and imagine he was my daughter," Fields said previously.

Fields tweeted Wednesday: "Prosecutor's office told me they would inform me of decision tomorrow. If reports true, guess they decided to leak to reporters first. Ugly."

The Trump campaign stood behind Lewandowski saying he was "absolutely innocent of this charge."

CNN also reported Lewandowski could face defamation charges.

Fields resigned from Breitbart News following the incident.
