Red Bulls Held Scoreless For 5th Time In 6 Matches, Fall To 'Quakes

SAN JOSE, Calif. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Fatai Alashe and Chris Wondolowski scored to help the San Jose Earthquakes beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0 on Wednesday night.

Wondolowski made it 2-0 in the 55th minute with his fifth goal in the season. He headed down Shea Salinas' cross from the top of the 6-yard box and joined Ante Razov in fourth place on the MLS career goals list with 114.

Alashe scored off a deflection in the 40th minute — his shot pinged off defender Kemar Lawrence and bounded past a crowd of defenders and goalkeeper Luis Robles.

The Earthquakes (3-1-2) snapped their three-game winless streak since opening the season with back-to-back wins. The Red Bulls (1-5-0) have gone scoreless in all five of their losses.
