NYPD Arrest Man Who Was Carrying Loaded Gun On Subway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police arrested a man who was riding a New York subway train with a loaded gun tucked into his waistband.

Police at Brooklyn's Atlantic Avenue station were approached on Saturday evening by several people pointing out the No. 2 train passenger they said had a gun.

The conductor made sure his train did not leave the station while police removed the armed man.

Authorities recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 caliber handgun.

Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Ricardo Stewart of Brooklyn.

Charges against Stewart include criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.
