30 With Murti Podcast: Former Major Leaguer Ray Fosse
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- This week on "30 With Murti," Sweeny sits down Ray Fosse, former catcher and now broadcaster for the Oakland A's.
Fosse played in the majors from 1967-79 and was a two-time All-Star with Cleveland and a two-time World Series champion with Oakland.
Fosse has been a radio and TV analyst for the A's for more than 30 years, but is best known for being on the receiving end of Pete Rose in the famous home plate collision in the 1970 All-Star Game. Ray has been reluctant to talk much about that incident in the past. He touches on the subject in this conversation, as well as the various injuries that affected his career.
Ray also tells a fascinating tale about a trip to Yankee Stadium in 1970 that started with him catching a doubleheader and ended with him at a police station pressing charges against a man who threw a cherry bomb from the stands that went off right at his feet behind home plate.
