Police: 18-Year-Old Bicyclist Struck By Vehicle In East Northport

EAST NORTHPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating after a 18-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Long Island Wednesday night.

According to police, Peter Ingoglia, 53, of East Northport, was driving a 2004 For Expedition along Laurel Road at around 10:20 p.m. when he struck the bicyclist, who was attempting to cross the road.

The bicyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition, police said. The name of the bicyclist has not been released, pending family notification.

According to police, there have been no charges filed against Ingoglia. The Ford Expedition involved in crash has been impounded by police.

The accident remains under investigation.
