NJ Police Investigate Whether 'Countdown Bandit' Is Behind Garfield Bank Robbery
GARFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in New Jersey are looking into whether a bank robbery Thursday morning is connected to a series of other heists across the state.
Around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, a man made off with $11,000 after robbing an M&T Bank branch on Outwater Lane in Garfield.
Police said the suspect could be the so-called "Countdown Bandit" who is wanted in seven bank hold-ups in Bergen and Passaic counties since July 2015.
In most of the cases, "Countdown Bandit" approaches a teller and demands money, then starts counting down from 10 or 15 to one before taking off with the cash.
The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the "Countdown Bandit."
