Overnight Fire In Sheepshead Bay Leaves 5 Hurt

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Fire officials say five people suffered minor injuries in an overnight fire in Brooklyn.

The blaze broke out at 1:24 a.m. Monday on the first floor of the three-story building on Voorhies Avenue in Sheepshead Bay. It was brought under control at 4:32 a.m.

The building has businesses on the first floor with occupied apartments on the two floors above.

"We left immediately," one resident said. "We didn't wait."

Three firefighters and two civilians suffered minor injuries.
