Man Spent Morning Trying To Lure Young Girls On Allerton Ave. In The Bronx, Police Say
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man allegedly spent his Wednesday morning attempting to lure young girls in the Bronx -- and police say he may have struck before.
On Wednesday morning at 7:50, Osita Enweronye, 26, approached a 12-year-old girl near Eastchester Road and Allerton Avenue and told her to 'go with him' according to authorities. The girl fled the location.
Just 10 minutes later, he allegedly struck again, this time on Kingsland and Allerton avenues. Police say Enweronye commented on an 11-year-old girl's looks and said he wanted to take her shopping. Once again the victim fled the location.
Then, just five minutes later Enweronye allegedly approached a 12-year-old near Westervelt and Allerton avenues, telling her to "come with him." That girl also fled the location.
Police said Enweronye also approached a 13-year-old girl, again at Westervelt and Allerton avenues, grabbing her on the arm before she was able to break away and flee the location.
The girl didn't want to be identified, but told CBS2's Tracee Carrasco that she remembered the encounter vividly.
"He started telling me, 'Oh you're so pretty, can I have your number?' And I said no, leave me alone, but he just kept going, and then he said, 'Oh come with me, I'll take you somewhere nice," she said.
The relentless suspect followed the teen.
"He walked me about halfway to my school and then he kept repeating himself, and he grabbed my jacket and tried to tug me a little," she said.
The quick thinking girl yelled out to a friend down the street, and scared the suspect away.
"I was thinking something bad is going to happen, I'm never going to see my parents," she said.
The girl's mother was frightened by the encounter.
"It's every parent's worst nightmare," she said.
Now she worries for her other children, and hopes police catch the suspect soon.
"They can be easily duped into going into someone's car. You never know," she said.
Enweronye has been described as a black male, 5'11" and 150 pounds.
