Ivy League Professor's Math Equations Mistaken For Terror Threat During Flight

PHILADELPHIA (CBSNewYork/AP) --An Ivy League professor says his flight was delayed because a fellow passenger thought the equations he was writing might be a sign he was a terrorist.

American Airlines confirmed a woman sitting next to Guido Menzio on a flight from Philadelphia to Syracuse thought his math was terrorist writings.

Menzio said he was working on the equation for a speech when the woman passed a note to the flight attendant, CBS2 reported.

The plane was then sent back to the gate and Menzio was questioned.

He was eventually allowed back on the flight, which was delayed by two hours.

American spokesman Casey Norton said the crew followed protocol to take care of the passenger and then to investigate her allegations. They determined them to be non-credible.
