Police Pursuit Of Stolen Car In Kenilworth, NJ Ends In Crash
KENILWORTH, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - A police pursuit ended when a suspect crashed in Kenilworth Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Galloping Hill Road and Chestnut Street.
A police officer picked up a stolen plate in a parking lot about a quarter mile from where the crash ultimately occurred, CBS2's Meg Baker reported. The officer followed the black Ford Explorer when the SUV took off and collided with a grey Honda.
"The person, I guess, accelerated at a high rate of speed, according to the victim, and crashed right here at this intersection," said Kenilworth Chief of Police John Zimmerman.
The SUV had been reported stolen more than two weeks ago, police said.
The driver of the SUV has been arrested.
