Dean Skelos' Nephew Accused Of Grabbing, Throwing Reporter's Cellphone

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Skelos family member was arrested and charged after allegedly grabbing and throwing a reporter's phone on Thursday, after former New York Senate Leader Dean Skelos and his son were sentenced.

Video appeared to show Basil "Billy" Skelos grab the wrist of a New York Daily News reporter and throw her cellphone into the street.

The Daily News identified the reporter as Victoria Bekiempis.

Dean Skelos, Billy Skelos' uncle, was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday after being convicted of using his position to pressure companies to provide hundreds of thousands of dollars for his son.

Skelos' son, Adam, was also sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison. He was also convicted in December of extortion, fraud and bribery.
