Anti-Discrimination Center Asks Judge To Hold Westchester County In Contempt Over Housing
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Anti-Discrimination Center said Westchester County has failed to create more affordable housing in affluent white neighborhoods over the seven years it was required to do so by a settlement.
The group's director wrote to the federal judge in the case asking the court to hold Westchester County in contempt, extend the terms another seven years, and implement a special master to act in the county's place if resistance continues.
County Executive Rob Astorino said the claims are outrageous.
He said the ADC is no longer a party to the settlement, and said Westchester is on track to meet the 2009 requirements by the end of the year.
