Report: Links And Photos Will No Longer Be Counted In Twitter's Character Limit

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- There will soon be more to tweet about without the worry of links and photos taking up your precious thought-space, according to a new report.

Bloomberg Technology reports that the company will stop counting photos and links in their 140-character limit in the near future.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous as the announcement has not been made public, said the changes could happen in the next few weeks.

Currently, links are automatically shortened in tweets, but can still take up to 23 characters.

Twitter has been brainstorming character limit changes in the past year but has conveyed they still want to keep the concise nature of the social media platform.

Users may be encouraged to use more photos and links in their tweets if the company pulls through with removing them from the character limit, Bloomberg reported.
