Family Of Long Island Quintuplets Gets Ready For Busy Graduation Weekend

HAMDEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- This coming weekend will be a busy one for parents of quintuplets as they scramble to attend their children's graduation ceremonies.

Lou and Denise Carbone, of Long Island, must split their weekend to attend graduation ceremonies for four of their kids.

The boys, Austin and Brandon, will get their diplomas from Quinnipiac University, while their sisters, Brianna and Marissa, will graduate from Marist College.

Austin said special accommodations have been made, allowing their parents to attend both ceremonies in Connecticut and on Long Island.

"We're supposed to graduate Saturday and my two sisters, they go to Marist, they're graduating Saturday too, so we had the whole conflict of where the parents are going to be," the pre-med major said.

Now, Quinnipiac is allowing the boys to attend a second ceremony on campus set for Sunday, the day after they actually receive their diplomas. The entire extended family is expected to attend.

"Most likely both sets of grandparents, some aunts and uncles, and some family friends," he said.

The brothers are grateful the school is going out of its way to accommodate their family.

The fifth sibling, Francesca, is continuing her studies after transferring to Adelphi University, according to a press release from Quinnipiac University.

The Carbone children are believed to be the first quintuplets from Long Island, according to the school.
