Sources: Woman Was Punched By Stranger In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was punched in the head by a stranger in Brooklyn Wednesday, and the suspect was still on the run several hours later.

The attack happened around 12:30 p.m. at outside 24 Hillel Pl. in Flatbush, Brooklyn, near Brooklyn College, police sources told CBS2.

The 45-year-old woman said she was struck in the back of the head in an unprovoked attack. She was not knocked to the ground and her injuries were not serious, sources said.

Cellphone video showed the victim in an ambulance and holding a towel to her heard.

The woman had just left Northfield Bank when the attack happened, sources said.

The woman was taken to New York Community Hospital and was expected to recover.
