5 Knicks Coaching Candidates Worse Than Kurt Rambis

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Despite his 65-164 career record, Kurt Rambis remains a serious candidate to be named the Knicks' full-time head coach -- whenever they get around to actually doing that.

But don't fret, Knicks fans. While Rambis is no Tom Thibodeau, Mark Jackson, Frank Vogel, Scott Brooks, Scott Skiles, Dave Joerger, Luke Walton -- OK, we'll stop now -- you could do much worse.

Here is a look at five men who would be a poorer choice than Rambis to lead the Knicks.

1. DENNIS RODMAN

He tweeted back in February that he wanted the job. And he meets Phil Jackson's criteria of being someone whom the Knicks' president knows and who knows the triangle offense. But hiring Rodman might mean reserve courtside seats for Kim Jong-un, which could lead to World War III if James Franco and Seth Rogen ever show up at Madison Square Garden, too. And besides, does Rodman have enough time to dedicate to coaching between all his tattoo, body piercing and hair dye appointments?

2. JACKIE MOON

While the former Flint Tropics coach will do everything in his power to fill the seats -- did somebody say "free corn dogs"? -- he will inevitably coach players to shoot free throws granny style, let a bear run free on the Garden court and be satisfied with finishing in fourth place.

3. RICH KOTITE

But if the Knicks want to win four games in two years, he's your guy.

4. ROUGNED ODOR

While he would instill toughness and a no-nonsense attitude in the team, he'd probably fuel the next "Malice at the Palace" after the first flagrant foul of the season. But if Jackson does want to entertain this idea, Odor does have some free time to chat over the next week.

5. JEFF HORNACEK

Only four teams had a worse record than the Knicks last season, including Hornacek's Suns. (Not surprisingly, he was fired in Feburary.) In two-plus seasons in Phoenix, Hornacek never reached the postseason and his record got worse each year. So be grateful, Knicks fans, that your team has no interest in him. ... Wait, what? Why? Seriously, why?
