PHOTOS: New Jersey Police Rescue 11 Ducklings From Storm Drain

NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork)-- It was a happy ending for one worried mother duck after 11 of her babies were rescued from a storm drain in New Jersey.

Neptune Township Police Department said concerned citizens saw the mother duck in distress and realized her ducklings had fallen into a storm drain and were trapped in a pipe below the street. They proceeded to contact police to get the drain covers removed, officials said in a Facebook post.

Police were able to climb into both drains and coax the ducklings into nets to reunite them with their mother.

"Thanks to the combined efforts of the NTPD, the DPW, Humane Society and especially the concerned citizens, all 11 ducklings were rescued without injury and happily returned to their grateful mother," police said.
