Police: Man Stole Electronics From 5 Stores In, Around Midtown

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Monday for a suspect who shoplifted electronics from five stores in and around Midtown Manhattan.

The suspect held took cellphones in four of the incidents and an iPad in the fifth. The incidents took place at the following times and locations:

• Around 5:40 p.m. Monday, March 21, the suspect walked into the AT&T Store at 350 Park Ave. in Midtown East and took two cellphones from a display case, police said.

• Around 6:35 p.m. Monday, March 21, the suspect walked into the Staples at 675 Third Ave. in Midtown East and took an iPad from the counter, police said.

• Around 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, the suspect walked into the Russell Cellular store at 873 Eighth Ave. in Midtown and took a cellphone, police said.

• Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, the suspect walked into the Verizon Store at 555 Sixth Ave. in Chelsea and took two cellphones from a shelf, police said.

• Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, the suspect walked into the Verizon store at 836 Lexington Ave. on the Upper East Side and took two cellphones, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male around 20 years old, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 230 pounds, with a light complexion, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white baseball hat, blue sneakers, and a black jacket.
