Wade Boggs Wore Yankees World Series Ring To '86 Red Sox Ceremony

By Ryan Mayer

The heated rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox is well documented. The teams generally don't like each other, and the fans most certainly don't. That being said, there have been a few players over the years who have worn both jerseys.

One of the players to have been on both sides of the rivalry is Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs. Boggs broke into the big leagues with the Red Sox and spent 11 seasons with the team before taking up residence in the Bronx for five years. He was part of the AL-winning 1986 Red Sox team that was being honored last night at Fenway Park for the 30th anniversary of that season. Yet, Boggs showed up to the ceremony wearing a piece of jewelry that would likely make Red Sox fans' blood boil: his 1996 World Series ring from the Yankees.

That's either next-level trolling by Boggs or, perhaps the more likely explanation, he just wears the ring all the time.

Let's be real, if you had a World Series ring, wouldn't you wear it all the time?
