Fight At Long Island Wedding Ends With Arrest, Police Say
WESTBURY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Vermont man was arrested after allegedly punching a man in the face and robbing him during a wedding on Long Island.
According to police, Lawrence Stevens, 32, of Shelburne, got into a fight with a 35-year-old man while attending a wedding at Verdis Catering on Old Country Road in Westbury at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police said Stevens knocked the man to the ground and continued to repeatedly punch him before removing a gold-colored ring from the victim's finger.
Stevens was arrested on the scene. He was found to have plastic knuckles in his possession at the time of the incident, police said.
The victim refused medical attention.
Stevens is facing charges of 2nd-degree robbery, 3rd-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
He is scheduled to appear in Hempstead court on Thursday.
