Bricks Fall From 12th Floor Of Building On Upper West Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Bricks fell from a building on the Upper West Side on Monday.

1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported workers were trying to removed bricks from the corner of the building above West End Avenue and West 94th Street when some of the bricks started falling from the 12th floor.

"They were taking bricks off, but some fell that weren't supposed to fall, so fortunately the scaffolds were set up here and caught them," Tim Conroy of the Office of Emergency Management said.

The bricks landed on the scaffolding and none hit the street.

Conroy said the contractor called for emergency assistance as soon as the bricks began falling.

"As a precaution, the contractor wisely called 911 to get some assistance to closing the street off because the bricks are not secured," he said.

The goal for the workers now is to remove any of the bricks up to the 17th floor of the apartment building which can still fall.

No one was injured.
