1 Killed, Another Injured In Midtown Crash

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One person was killed and another injured in a crash early Tuesday morning in Midtown.

It happened on 6th Avenue and 54th Street.

Police said the car crashed into a fire hydrant, killing the passenger. The driver was hurt.

One witness described what she saw.

"I seen the car coming, he was speeding, the light was red," she said. "It looked like he tried to stop, but when you're going that fast, the car goes haywire and he came and hit the fire hydrant. That's what stopped him."

The condition of the driver is not yet known.
