Mets-Pirates Game Postponed By Rain

PITTSBURGH (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The scheduled game between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates has been postponed by rain.

No makeup date was immediately announced. The game was called Monday night after a delay of 1 hour, 35 minutes.

This is the Mets' only visit to Pittsburgh this season. New York rookie Steven Matz (7-1, 2.60 ERA) was scheduled to start the opener of the three-game series against ex-Met Jon Niese (5-2, 4.36).

Both left-handers were pushed back to Tuesday night.

Niese was traded to the Pirates in December for second baseman Neil Walker, who is returning to play in his Pittsburgh hometown this week for the first time since the deal.

Jacob deGrom will pitch for the NL champion Mets on Wednesday against lefty Francisco Liriano.
