Police: Man Tried To Rape Woman In College Point, Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were searching for a suspect who attempted to rape a woman in College Point, Queens.

Around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect followed the 51-year-old woman along 121st Street near 23rd Avenue before approaching her from behind, police said. He told her he had a gun and said he was going to rape her, police said.

The suspect dragged the woman into the backyard of a residential building, where she fought him off and yelled for help, police said.

The suspect then ran south on 121st Street, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 23 and 25, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with a tattoo of a cross and Jesus on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, dark colored jeans and yellow work boots.
