LISTEN: Girardi Talks About Yankees Nearing .500, Teixeira's Injury

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Yankees are slowly climbing back near .500 as the offense has recently come back alive.

The Yanks' bats have been crushing Angels' pitching over the past three games.

Manager Joe Girardi commented on it during his appearance on Mike Francesa's show Thursday.

"We've hit the ball out of the ballpark which has really helped. You think about the first night, we basically got all our runs on home runs late in the game," Girardi said. "It's just continued. We've had good at-bats. We've had contributions up and down the lineup."

Girardi talked about how important it is for the fourth-place team to get back to .500.

"If you're going to make a run at the division, we gotta get through this and we got to get over it and continue to get to five games, then get to 10 games, beacause these teams are for real that are in our division and we need to consistently player better," he said.

The Yanks are 29-30 heading into Thursday night's game against the Angels.

Girardi also said he doesn't really know when Mark Teixeira will be back following a right knee injury.

"Our hope is that we have him on the field ready to play in some games in three weeks. He will probably have to do a rehab assignment in a sense to see where he's at," Girardi said. "We really don't know until he goes through this and he's doing a lot of treatment and a lot of different things. He's going to try a brace and we'll see how it holds up."
