2008 Flashback: 'Hamilton' Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda Talks About 'In The Heights'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Here is a 2008 Tony Awards flashback with "Hamilton" creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The writer, rapper, actor and composer made his Broadway debut in "In the Heights," a musical that brought diversity to Broadway in multiple ways telling stories of life in an Upper Manhattan Latino neighborhood.

"In the Heights" was up for 13 Tony Awards and won four, including one for Miranda for Best Original Score.

Back in 2008, CBS2's Dana Tyler took a walk with the first-time Tony nominee on the streets that nurtured him and inspired his first Broadway hit.
