Rangers Re-Sign Defenseman Chris Summers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Rangers have re-signed defenseman Chris Summers.

General manager Jeff Gorton announced the deal for the free agent Wednesday.

Summers skated in 74 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL this past season, registering three goals and eight assists. The 28-year-old played in three games with the Rangers last season.

Summers has played in 70 career NHL games over parts of six seasons with the Rangers and Coyotes, registering two goals and seven assists.

The native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, was acquired by the Rangers from the Coyotes in March 2015 in the multiplayer trade that also brought defenseman Keith Yandle to New York.
