Staten Island Triple Shooting Suspect Indicted On Murder Charges

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man arrested following a shootout with police in Pennsylvania has been indicted on murder charges in connection to a triple shooting on Staten Island that left a mother and son dead.

Anthony Morales was wanted in the deaths of Idelle Rivera, 47,  and her son, Anthony Rivera, 21. The two were shot at 14 Roxbury Street, outside the Mariners Harbor public housing development on March 24, police said.

Morales is also accused of wounding the son's friend, who was shot nine times.

Morales was shot 10 times during a dramatic confrontation with law enforcement in a parking lot along the Appalachian Trail near the Schuylkill River in Hamburg, Pennsylvania on March 28. According to police, he was shot after he ignored repeated commands to put his hands up and brandished a gun.

Morales is scheduled for a June 22 arraignment on the indictment. He previously pleaded not guilty to arrest charges.

His attorney, Mark J. Fonte, declined to comment on Wednesday
