Mets Place Juan Lagares On Disabled List With Sprained Right Thumb
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The injury bug continues to bite the New York Mets.
The team announced Thursday that outfielder Juan Lagares was placed on the disabled list with a sprained right thumb. The Mets recalled Ty Kelly from Triple-A affiliate Las Vegas 51s.
Lagares partially tore a ligament in his thumb earlier this month while making a diving catch in a game against the Miami Marlins.
The Mets also announced Thursday that third baseman David Wright will have surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck. There is no timetable for Wright's return.
