3 To See At ACC: Cash, Melina & Iskra! Plus, a 'Catrionic' Holiday Weekend Adoption Event
New York (CBSNewYork) CBSNewYork.com and 1010 WINS have teamed up with Animal Care Centers of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable animals looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and, where ACC's mobile adoption units are headed with even more great pets.
This week, they're featuring Cash, Melina & Iskra. Plus, ACC is kicking off the 4th of July holiday weekend with a "Catriotic" adoption promotion highlighting the many fantastic felines looking for new families. Throughout July, they're waiving the adoption fee for cats one year and older (which of course includes Melina, featured below).

"Next on our ACC runway is Cash," writes an ACC volunteer. "He is great with other models (dogs) at the shelter and loves people too. He is an all around great dog, playful, obedient and lovable." Melina (A1076962)
"Melina greeted me by smushing her face into the palm of my hand, then rolled over on her side to receive belly rubs!" notes an ACC volunteer. "She also has a habit of gazing at you adoringly, in expectation of further belly rubs!" Another volunteer writes that "Melina is a sweet girl who is friendly and enjoys your company. She would roll on her side, loving head rubs and neck rubs, closing her eyes softly, purring away, looking up at you from upside down with her lovely eyes." Meet adorable and approximately three-year-old Melina at ACC's Brooklyn Care Center, 2336 Linden Boulevard.
Iskra (A1073133) "This giant guy has a lovely, gentle disposition," writes an ACC volunteer. "He adores being petted -- he'll bliss out with his eyes closed and gradually go into a trance.
Iskra, about two years old, "is lots of bun to love! "
Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. ACC's three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12pm-8pm Monday thru Friday, and 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Please note, animals featured here may already be placed by the time you arrive, but there are hundreds of great cats, dogs, and rabbits looking for loving homes every day! You can view available animals online, and at the Care Centers, ACC Adoption Counselors will help you find the best match.

To adopt an animal, you must have a valid photo ID, be 18 years of age or older, and bring proof of current address. ACC adoptions include vaccinations, spay/neuter, a pre-registered microchip, an identification tag, a collar, and a certificate for a free initial exam at a participating veterinarian.
