Joey Chestnut, Matt Stonie Weigh In For Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Let the stare downs begin.

The steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall will play host to some of the nation's greatest competitive eaters this afternoon, as they weigh in for the big chow down at Nathan's on July 4.

Last year, Matt 'Megatoad' Stonie shocked the world when he stopped Joey Chestnut from achieving his 9th straight victory.

"You know the pressure is intense," Stonie told 1010 WINS' Steve Kastenbaum. "Joey Chestnut's back for blood and you know, gotta defend the title."

Chestnut said he's done a lot of soul searching since the upset last year and he's on his game.

"I'm going out there and I want to be serious and I want to push myself to the absolute limit," Chestnut said.

The man who brought the mustard yellow championship belt back to America is all but guaranteeing a victory at Coney Island on Monday. Earlier this week, the competitive eater set a new record, scarfing down 73 hot dogs in 10 minutes in Washington D.C.

"It's going to be a different guy going in the contest than last year," Chestnut said.

The two will go head to head against other competitors on Monday.
