Manhattanhenge Brings Striking Sunset To City Once Again

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Manhattanhenge made its return Monday night for a picture-perfect sunset in the city.

"Manhattanhenge" — also known as the Manhattan Solstice — occurs when the setting sun aligns precisely with the Manhattan carefully laid-out street grid, creating a radiant glow of light.

Twice a year, people gather in several spots to get a perfect shot.

The best views are on wide cross-streets such as 14th, 34th, 42nd, 57t, and 79th streets.

The event started on Monday night at 8:12 p.m., with an encore coming on Tuesday night.
